Welcome to Replenish & Nurture! Join me as I take a comprehensive approach to understand nutrition’s impact on humankind, and specific actions you can take to adopt timeless principles into your own cuisine.
In college, I studied Exercise and Wellness, which fueled my passion for the human body and its incredible potential. I continued studying nutrition on my own after graduation, with many questions about human health still bubbling in my mind. I am fascinated by the ways foods have been used for hundreds, even thousands, of years. But, my logical brain is constantly craving real, well-done research to better understand the deeper view. This requires digging through scientific articles, meta-analyses, systematic reviews, case studies, etc. to fully understand the real picture. Time and again, science and human experience confirm how wise many of their traditions were (…as well as some practices that we really are better without)!
With my husband and two kids, we began gradually moving away from industrialized food systems. We found principles that not only nurture our bodies, but also sustainably nourish soil, animals, water, and community. Small changes made a big impact on our family’s well-being. While I still have so much to learn, join me in uncovering true nutrition, meant to replenish our bodies and nurture generations to come.
Meet KIM
Beyond being a total nutrition nut, here’s more about me!
- I love taking time outside each day for hiking, playing at the park, or enjoying nature with my boys. We are very excited to move to some acreage to spend more time outside and try our hand at a small homestead.
- My new-found love for archery leaves me dreaming of bow hunting within the next couple years.
- My favorite go-to snack is sliced green apple with gruyere cheese and walnuts. YUM!
- Strategic board games are my jam. After carving out a few hours, my husband and I sit down with Scythe – it is intricately complex and plays out differently every time! When we’re opting for shorter, less-intense games, we love Wingspan and Everdell.
- You’ll regularly find me attempting a new task in the kitchen, such as making homemade tallow or searing steaks.
- My day doesn’t really start until after I’ve finished my yoga, weight lifting, or running – it boosts my strength and mental clarity!
- My husband and I both enjoy traveling regularly to visit our families in Alaska and Idaho.
